I don't think I ever told you, but Debra and I saw a black bear about a mile from our house when we came back from M&D's last time. Makes us a bit afraid to let the girlies roam around on our land, but I am willing to bet that if a bear happened on our property, they would just bark at it until it left.
Buy a couple of bells for them to wear outside. You can get them at outdoor stores or online called "Bear Bells". The idea is that the ringing bell alerts the bear and scares them off.
